Central Texas, including Comal and Guadalupe counties, remains under a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service, which has been extended to Feb. 2 at 6 a.m. due to freezing temperatures throughout the region.

Due to the potential of icy roadways, city facilities delayed opening until 10 a.m. Jan. 31, although police, fire department and EMS services will continue normal operations.

City Hall, Parks and Recreation Department administration, Municipal Court, the Public Library, the Westside Community Center, Das Rec, Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs and the Municipal Building opened at 10 a.m. The Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs will be closed, but the Pro Shop will remain open until 5 p.m. Solid waste and recycling routes will begin as soon as roadways are determined to be safe, according to the city of New Braunfels.

Roads throughout the city will be monitored throughout the day, and the Public Works Department is prepared to lay down gravel and de-ice local roads and bridges. According to the city, TxDOT is taking similar measures on I-35 and other major highways.

New Braunfels residents can find updated information on road conditions by monitoring the city’s traffic map. The city said it will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates on its website at www.newbraunfels.gov and social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram.
