Comal County is currently creating a Parks, Open Space and Natural Areas Master Plan that will assist elected officials in short- and long-term decision-making related to outdoor recreation. The plan will help in determining potential capital expenditures, potential partnerships and management strategies.

The Master Plan is intended to help the county develop a preferred vision for parks, open space and natural areas and identify opportunities for such that exist within the community. A series of open houses will be taking place throughout Comal County from Feb. 6 to 9, where the community can share its preference for parks and natural areas in the region.

The first open house took place at the Comal County Courthouse on Feb. 6 from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. The second event will take place Feb. 7 at Davenport High School located at 23255 FM 3009 in San Antonio from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.

On Feb. 8 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., members of the Bulverde community can gather at the Mammen Family Public Library located at 131 Bulverde Crossing for an open house. The last event will occur Feb. 9 from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. at the Tye Preston Memorial Library at 16311 S. Access Road in Canyon Lake.
