Jan. 18 | Get motivated

Tarpon Blue Real Estate and Insurance is hosting a Better Than Yesterday motivational workshop with guest speaker Clint Rutledge at the New Braunfels convention center. The workshop will show those attending how to apply four principles to improve their daily lives. Jan. 21-22 | Revel in Retromania

The Heritage Event Company is hosting the RetroMania comic con at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center. The comic con is a family friendly event that gives people a chance to explore comic books, video games, VHS, records, apparel, original art and a large array of toy selections. Jan. 21 | Experience Sinatra

The Brauntex Theatre will showcase Dave Halston, a tribute artist from Las Vegas who performs “The Sinatra Experience.” Frank Sinatra’s most popular songs will be performed in the authentic show featuring original music arrangements. 7:30 p.m. $62-$75 (tickets vary based on seating). 290 W. Jan. 21 | Learn to shoot a bow and arrow

The Fisher Park Nature Education Center is teaching an Archery 101 class for those interested in safely learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. A certified instructor will show the beginner-level class the basic techniques of target archery and handling a compound bow. Jan. 29 | Run a half marathon

The Das Dreizehn.Eins half-marathon race through New Braunfels will take place for the first time this January. Beginning in Prince Solms Park, the course will take runners around the gazebo downtown before venturing through Landa Park and crossing over the Guadalupe River into the historic Gruene District, eventually returning to Prince Solms Park to cross the finish line. A celebration will take place following the race featuring food and music. The half-marathon is partnering with the charity Pink Warrior Advocates, a nonprofit that provides support to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. 7-11:30 a.m. $75-$95 (depending on when tickets are purchased). Feb. 2 | Find a job


The New Braunfels Economic Development Corp. and the Seguin Economic Development Corp. are hosting an in-person job fair featuring positions in various industries from companies based in Cibolo, New Braunfels, Schertz and Seguin. Hiring representatives from participating companies, including Republic Plastics, Seguin ISD, Tyson Foods, Central States Manufacturing and more, will be on-site to discuss job opportunities. Feb. 4 | Compete in a Chili Cookoff

Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels will be hosting its second annual Ring of Fire Chili Cook-Off during the annual Freezeride wakeboard competition. Those participating can make chili and bloody marys to be judged as first through third place or people’s choice. Feb. 5 | Prepare for your wedding


The 2023 Hill Country Wedding Show will be hosted by the Hill Country Wedding Specialist at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center and feature over 120 wedding vendors, food, a bridal fashion show, entertainment and more. Feb. 11 | Listen to a country artist

Country artist Collin Raye will be performing in New Braunfels on the The Brauntex Theatre stage. Featuring guest singer-songwriter Bret Graham; Collin Raye; and his trio of piano, fiddle/mandolin and bass will serenade the audience. Feb. 11 | Look at model airplanes


ModelFiesta, Texas’ International Model Contest for replica airplanes, ships, cars and more, will be held at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center. The event is one of the largest local scale model contests in the United States and attracts competitors and vendors from across the U.S. and Mexico. The contest averages over 120 vendor tables and has over 500 models entered into the contest each year. Feb. 17-18 | Dance with your daughter

The 18th annual Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Dance: To the Moon and Back! will take place at the McKenna Events Center in New Braunfels. Tickets include admission to the ballroom, dancing, refreshments and a keepsake for the daughters attending. Carriage rides are available for an additional charge.
