Wassailfest is slated to take place in downtown New Braunfels on Dec. 2 from 6-8:45 p.m., according to a city press release.

The city is partnering with the New Braunfels Downtown Association to host the event that will feature nonprofit food vendors, shopping specials and extended hours for downtown businesses.

Several local singing groups will perform at the main plaza bandstand followed by a free concert from 8:45-10 p.m. hosted by the New Braunfels Jaycees.

“Wassailfest is an iconic local event that brings the community together to celebrate the holiday season in our beautiful and historic downtown,” New Braunfels Mayor Rusty Brockman said. “Just like a good cup of wassail, the community spirit of gathering together and helping local nonprofit agencies warms the soul, and we hope residents and visitors find their way downtown for this festive event.”

Several area roads will be closed in preparation for the event. East San Antonio Street from Comal Avenue to Union Street will be closed beginning at 10 a.m.

Beginning at 4 p.m., the Main Plaza, Seguin Avenue between Mill Street and Coll Street, San Antonio Street from Comal to Hill Avenue and a portion of Castell Avenue will be closed.
