City officials are monitoring anticipated storms this weekend ahead of the Wein and Sanger Lite event.

The event is a scaled-down version of the annual Wein and Saengerfest and has been scheduled for May 1 from 5-9 p.m.

Wein and Saengerfest has been hosted in downtown New Braunfels for more than 15 years, but the celebration was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The New Braunfels area is expected to see several inches of rain this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, which could derail setup for the event.

According to the city, setup is to take place from noon-5 p.m. May 1, and officials will continue to share updates about the event on the city’s social media accounts and website.
