Wein and Saengerfest will return to downtown New Braunfels on May 1 this year with some modifications due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The annual festival, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic, will be called “Wein and Saenger Lite” and will take place at the Main Plaza in downtown New Braunfels from 5-9 p.m.

Musical groups Soul Sessions and Three Man Front will perform live throughout the evening, and visitors will be able to purchase wine and beer by the glass. A limited number of food trucks will also be available.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the New Braunfels Downtown Association and the New Braunfels Parks Foundation.

“We hope this year’s Wein and Saenger Lite fundraising event is just the start of returning to the traditions and festivities our community is known for,” New Braunfels Mayor Rusty Brockman said in a statement.

Main Plaza and portions of Seguin Avenue and San Antonio Street will be closed to traffic on May 1 from 3 p.m.-midnight. For more information, visit the city event website.
