Amid extreme cold weather resulting in possible low or no water pressure and main breaks, Canyon Lake Water Service Co. has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers experiencing a loss of services.

All CLWSC customers in Comal and Blanco counties are urged to boil water prior to consumption to ensure the destruction of harmful bacteria and other microbes. Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

Water used for drinking, cooking, ice making, brushing teeth, and hand and face washing should be brought to a rapid boil and boiled for at least two minutes before being cooled and used, according to a CLWSC press release.

The notice will remain in effect until public water system officials notify customers that water is again safe for consumption.
