Recycling centers in New Braunfels and Comal County will be accepting used, natural Christmas trees and garland through Jan. 9 and Jan. 16, respectively.

Comal County’s Moe Schwab Recycling Center will accept trees and garland from Dec. 29-Jan. 16 at no charge. Residents are asked to remove all tree stands, tinsel, ornaments and other decorations before bringing them for recycling.

In New Braunfels, residents can drop off natural Christmas decorations from Dec. 26-Jan. 9 at the New Braunfels Recycle Center where they will be made into mulch.

City residents will be able to pick up mulch through self-load service from Jan. 2-9 at no cost.

Artificial trees, flocked trees and trees with decorations will not be accepted. Trees are also eligible for residential pick-up on green waste collection days and trees taller than 8 feet must be cut in half.


The county recycling center is open 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Tue.-Fri. and 8 a.m.-noon on Sat. while the city recycling center is open from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m., Tue.-Sat.
