The Comal ISD board of trustees welcomed a new member and appointed a new board president during the regular May 20 meeting.

Newcomer Courtney Biasatti joined the board as representative for District 2 after defeating former Board President David Drastata during the May 1 election. Drastata previously served on the board for 12 years.

“It's been an incredible journey over the last 12 years, but the last 14 months certainly stand out,” Drastata said when addressing the board. “You all should be proud of the way you handled [this year], and you all should be proud of how you serviced the students.”

The board also swore in Michelle Ross and Tim Hennessee for their second terms on the board.

After swearing in the new and returning members, the board was reorganized and Jason York was elected as board president, with Michelle Ross serving as vice president.
