Two New Braunfels residents died Aug. 6 due to COVID-19, according to an Aug. 10 press release from Comal County.

County information states a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s died in a New Braunfels hospital.

The number of new cases in Comal County is reported at 27 as of Aug. 10, which expands the county's total number of cases to 2,386.

County data states 24 of the new cases are from New Braunfels residents; one is from the Bulverde/Spring Branch area; and two live north of Canyon Lake.

Comal County also confirmed 19 more recoveries from COVID-19 for a total of 1,869, the release states, adding that with 62 deaths, the county now has 455 active confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases. Of them, 69 are hospitalized.


“On Monday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for 21 COVID-19 patients; 10 of those are in intensive care beds, and eight are on ventilators,” the release states. “Not all of these patients are necessarily county residents; likewise, not all county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 are in Comal County hospitals.”
