The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing June 8 regarding a proposed permit application filed by a Comal County landowner and JA Wastewater, LLC requesting authorization to discharge a maximum of 600,000 gallons of treated wastewater daily into the Dry Comal Creek, part of the Comal River and Guadalupe River watershed.

The landowner, Doug Harrison, is also the president of the Lake Dunlap Water Control and Improvement District in New Braunfels.

According to the Pollutant Discharge Elimination System application receipt, the discharge route would be from the domestic wastewater facility located about 0.4 miles south of the Harrison Road and Hwy. 46 intersection to West Fork Dry Comal Creek that flows into the Comal River in New Braunfels.

The hearing will be held at Smithson Valley High School, located at 14001 Hwy. 46 in Spring Branch at 7 p.m. Individuals may submit comments on the TCEQ website before 5 p.m. on June 8.
