John Evans patented “The Ultimate Burger Press” in 2019. After traveling across the country selling and demoing the product, Evans’ wife said they should prove the concept through selling the burgers themselves.

He opened UBP Burgers, located at 840 S. Business I-35 in New Braunfels in August 2021 to not only prove his invention, but also bring back what he experienced with his dad in his youth.

What’s special about it?

Evans noted that the way UBP Burgers shapes their patties makes them stand out among other burger restaurants in the area. Evans said The Ultimate Burger Press is a way to shape your hamburger patty so it will cook more evenly and stay juicy through the cooking process.

“Nobody shapes their burgers; they buy it already premade,” he said.

The Ultimate Burger Press product was also manufactured in San Antonio.

“This company is born here,” Evans said.

What’s on the menu?

At UBP Burgers, customers can build their own burgers, adding a variety of toppings, including cheese, jalapenos, egg, mushroom and grilled onions. The burger truck also sells specialty fries, such as UBP Loaded Fries, which have seasoned crinkle cut fries, signature queso, chopped grilled bacon, jalapenos, sour cream and green onions.

UBP Burgers also caters and does online ordering with Uber Eats and Doordash.
