1. Comal River Tattoo
Chain of Strength Tattoo Co., formerly located in Universal City, closed and will reopen under a new name as Comal River Tattoo, 208 S. Castell Ave., New Braunfels, in the former Ol’ Bossy Creamery building behind the Downtowner Bar & Kitchen.
“We've been trying to get out here for some years into an actual downtown area—which took a little finessing—but it happened, thankfully,” Comal River Tattoo owner Nathan Alderete said.
Finishing touches are going into the storefront in preparation for a Feb. 3 grand opening, which will feature guest tattoo artists, live painting, art for sale and more.
In the meantime, the shop is open by appointment only with tattoo artist Valentina Marquez who can be reached on Instagram. 830-632-5030.
2. Starlite Recovery Center
Starlite Recovery Center will host an open house for its new intensive outpatient program located at 790 Generations Drive, Ste. 515, New Braunfels, on Jan. 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The business provides treatment for adults struggling with substance use or co-occurring behavioral health disorders. Individuals in the intensive outpatient program receive personalized care from experienced professionals who lead them through a 12-step program at the Starlite Recovery Center. 512-943-2953.
3. River City Imaging Center
The River City Imaging Center will open its second location in New Braunfels at The Center of Excellence, located at 1770 Hwy. 46, Ste. 1107, in February. The business provides MRI, CT, 3D screening mammograms, walk-in X-rays, ultrasound and other related services. The River City Imaging Center has one existing location at 1750 E. Commons St., Ste. 1101, that opened in August 2020. 830-302-4355.
4. NB Pickleball Club
The NB Pickleball Club is coming soon to New Braunfels at 1269 Summerwood Drive, Ste. 201. Open membership enrollment for the indoor Pickleball court will begin in January, and the athletic facility is anticipated to open March 1. 830-946-0020.
