Schlitterbahn plans to reopen its New Braunfels and Galveston waterparks in mid-June, according to a statement issued on Tuesday, May 26.

Millions of dollars in upgrades and renovations were poured into the park in the lead up to its brief season opening that was cut short in mid-March due to closure orders. This year was to be the first full season under new owner Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.

Gov. Greg Abbott issued new executive orders on Tuesday that allow for Texas waterparks to open Friday, May 29, at 25% capacity.

In the 2018 season, the New Braunfels park saw 1,016,000 guests, according to a study by AECOM.

Below is the prepared statement issued by Schlitterbahn:

We are pleased that Governor Abbott’s reopening plans now include waterparks. The safety of our guests and associates has always been, and will always be, our top priority. Schlitterbahn is preparing to reopen our properties mid-June with enhanced safety measures and operational changes throughout both of our parks. We miss you and cannot wait to welcome you back to the Hottest, Coolest Time in Texas.
