The project to extend San Gabriel Parkway from CR 270 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard will see more progress after Leander City Council approved a contract for the second phase of construction.

At its Jan. 16 meeting, council approved a $6,912,964 contract with Patin Construction to build the second phase of the road extension project, which will connect the section of road built as Phase 1 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard, according to agenda documents.

What you need to know

Phase 1 of the project, encompassing the center portion of the incoming roadway, was completed by 2020, according to the documents. Phase 2 will be constructed to the east and will connect Phase 1 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard, according to a map of the project provided by Ty Meighan, Leander’s communications manager.

The second phase of the project is required to be finished within 600 days of the start of construction, according to the documents.


What else?

Leander anticipates soliciting bids for construction of Phase 3, which will connect CR 270 to Phase 1, by late 2025, Meighan said.
