1. Georgetown to reduce speed limit on Ronald Reagan Boulevard
Georgetown City Council gave preliminary approval Aug. 25 to adjust speed limits on Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Westinghouse Road, as well as in school zones on Hwy. 195 and Woodlake Drive.

2. Rooftop padel club planned at downtown Austin Convention Center garage
A rooftop padel club is coming to the Austin Convention Center parking garage downtown, in a bid by the city to boost revenue during the exhibition hall's multi-year closure.

3. New East Austin supportive housing offers exit from homelessness
A new East Austin community, Seabrook Square II, will house 60 people who have experienced chronic homelessness, according to local mental health authority Integral Care.
Travis County officials counted 3,238 people experiencing homelessness, a 36% jump from 2023, with 44% reporting it was their first time without stable housing, county data shows.

4. Round Rock residents to see higher water, wastewater, sewer bills
Retail and wholesale Round Rock water customers will see higher bills over the next few years, after officials gave approval for a new three-year rate increase model Aug. 27.
The city’s retail rate model applies to both residential and commercial customers.

5. Bee Cave rejects permit for VVater research lab

6. Hays County secures over $39 million for railroad overpass at Centerpoint Road
Hays County was awarded over $39 million in federal funding to construct an overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad, or UP, crossing on Centerpoint Road. The project will eliminate the conflict between trains and roadway traffic.
