The $1.32 million contract with Garver Engineering brings the total cost of design to about $2.67 million, as council approved a $1.35 million contract for the first phase in June.
What's new
The contract approved by council Oct. 8 includes the remainder of the design for the project, project administration and preparation of an easement for an entrance on the site's east side to address traffic safety concerns, Garver Project Engineer Jeff Meadows said.
The 60% design plan is expected to be brought back to council in about three months, he said.
The details
Being able to build a new wastewater treatment plant from the ground up is a "rarity," Meadows said.
The facility is designed to initially treat up to 1.4 million gallons per day, with capacity for expansion up to 4.2 million gallons per day as the community grows.
What's next?
A project schedule included in the update from Garver Engineering shows the final design for the plant is expected to be completed around May 2026, with the project going to bid in June. At this time, construction is planned to start in September 2026, with completion by the end of 2028.
