Picnik temporarily closed on July 27 while the restaurant’s team prepared to launch a new concept, founder Naomi Seifter announced on social media. Now, Picnik is reopening with a new limited menu for a week-long soft opening.
Picnik is now open for lunch and dinner service from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., according to an Instagram post.
“We wanted a place that you could eat at every single day where the ultimate standard was the ingredient integrity and nourishment,” the brand shared on Instagram.
The backstory
Seifter launched Picnik's first location in 2013, which was a 150-square-foot food trailer, according to Picnik's website. The first sit-down Picnik restaurant opened three years later, bringing farm-to-table dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Picnik’s menu served salads and bowls, tacos, burgers, chicken sandwiches, cashew queso, curried chicken salad and more.
Seifter brought in outside management to oversee the business in 2019, she shared on Instagram. Recently, she has spent the last two years exploring how to buy the business back; Dec. 1 was Seifter’s first day back as the new owner and operator.
On the menu
After closing at the end of July, Seifter spent the following weeks building a restaurant that uses “nourishing, health-promoting food,” she shared online. The new Picnik will do so by offering one farm-to-table meal per day, cooked with the highest-quality ingredients that the restaurant can obtain.
Ingredients will include meats, fruit, vegetables and fish. Patrons can expect to find organic, pasture-raised, regenerative, grass-fed, organic and conscious provisions. Meals might also feature organic rice, quinoa or overnight soaked beans.
More details
The base of every main plate will be free from gluten, seed oils, refined sugar and peanuts. Vegan and vegetarian options are available upon request. For drinks, Picnik will offer wine, canned drinks and classic bone broth.

Picnik is soft opening this week, bringing simple ingredients to the space. Throughout the soft opening, the team will be training staff, serving customers and gathering data about the new concept all at the same time.
“We are literally building the car as we are driving it,” the brand shared online.
