After months of discussion, Leander officials have officially approved the installment of a traffic signal where Ronald Reagan Boulevard intersects with Via de Sienna Boulevard and Bar W Boulevard.

The full story

The intersection has experienced an increase in traffic since the August opening of Bar W Elementary.

Since September, officials have been planning a traffic signal at this intersection, which is intended to enhance safety and mobility in the area, according to the city.

Executive Director of Infrastructure Dan Grimbso said Liberty Hill ISD approved the new traffic light Dec. 19, and Williamson County Commissioners Court is expected to approve it Jan. 9.

The traffic light will cost $900,000, Grimbso said, and it will be split in thirds between the county, LHISD and the city.
