The Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees approved the purchase of a 160-acre tract of land in southwest Liberty Hill at a June 2 special meeting.

The land—located off RM 1869—could be the site of a future school, interim Superintendent Travis Motal told Community Impact.

The gist

The new site could house a future middle and high school or an elementary and middle school, Motal said. The use of the property and timeline for opening a campus may be contingent on the district’s growth, he said.

“There's not a lot of development around the site yet,” Motal said. “We're trying to stay ahead as we purchase land.”

The district, which has around 10,000 students, is projected to almost double its enrollment to over 19,000 students by the 2034-35 school year, according to an April demographic update from Zonda Education.

What else?

The board approved PBK Architects to begin designing Elementary School No. 9 at the June 2 meeting. The district is expecting to open the elementary school at a site east of US 183 in the fall of 2027 or 2028, Motal said.

In April, the board approved the purchase of a 13.5-acre property off CR 258 that will be used for a future elementary campus, he said. The site is located by the Santa Rita Ranch subdivision near the future Legacy Ranch Middle School and official Legacy Ranch High School campus.

Next steps

The board is expected to vote on closing the 160-acre land purchase in the next 30-60 days, Motal said.
