From new campuses to major renovations, several construction projects are underway in Liberty Hill ISD.

Director of Construction Dustin Akin provided an update on the district’s bond-funded projects at a May 19 board of trustees meeting.

The update

The district broke ground on Elementary School No. 8 in the Lariat neighborhood in February. The school is designed to accommodate 1,000 students, which is 200 more students than LHISD’s current elementary campuses. Elementary School No. 8 is set to be completed in May 2026.

Construction of the official Legacy Ranch High School campus was 71% complete as of April, Akin said. Located off CR 258, the district’s second high school will accommodate a capacity of 2,500 students beginning in the fall of 2026.

In June, the district will begin expansion work on Liberty Hill High School’s band hall and cafeteria that is slated to be complete by June 2026, according to the presentation. Next summer, the district will complete interior renovations for CTE areas and the wrestling room at LHHS.

In July, LHHS’s football stadium will receive new concession stands and restrooms.

In case you missed it

LHISD has completed a new career and technical education, or CTE, building at Liberty Hill Middle School.

The district installed secure entry vestibules at Rancho Sienna and Bill Burden elementaries this winter, Akin said.

The cost

Voters approved funding for projects through the district’s $471.1 million bond election in 2023, including:
  • Proposition A: $459 million for school facilities
  • Proposition B: $7.1 million for technology
  • Proposition C: $5 million for stadium facilities
In 2021, voters passed a $491.7 million bond package to fund new campuses alongside renovations and expansions across the district.

Going forward

This summer, the district will work on the following projects:
  • Relocating portables to Santa Rita Middle School
  • Replacing a portable at the transportation facility that was lost due to a fire
  • Extending the sidewalk at Louine Noble Elementary
  • Concrete flatwork at Legacy Ranch Middle School No. 3
  • Repairing the cooling tower at LHHS
  • Re-roofing LHMS
The district will seek board approval to begin designing Elementary School No. 9 in June, Akin said.
