Cedar Park’s Peak Performance Martial Arts Training will be relocating to a new facility in Leander after Leander City Council approved a rezoning motion Oct. 2.

The details

Council approved a motion to rezone three properties for commercial use, paving the way for a mixed-use development anchored by the martial arts studio.

The newly rezoned properties are located at the future site of a 12-acre mixed-use development called Peak Business Park. The parcels of land, located at the intersection of 183A Toll and E. Woodview Drive, were zoned for single-family residential and single-family suburban use. The council unanimously approved a bid to reclassify the property as general commercial.

Peak Performance Martial Arts Training will move into the second and third lots on the property, while the remaining parcel will be used for a future mixed-use commercial development, with tenants to be determined.

Some context

Owners Gary and Paula Schill started Peak Performance in their church in 1997 and expanded to their current facility at 500 Brushy Creek Road in Cedar Park, where it's been since 2009. The new Leander facility will be 21,000 square feet, more than tripling the studio’s current capacity. No timeline was provided for the transition.

What they’re saying

“I’m familiar with [Peak Performance] because of how involved you are in our schools, and I see your summer camps in our parks,” Mayor Christine DeLisle said.

The martial arts school works with about 40 different schools in the area.

“One of my favorite hobbies in the world is taking nice things from Cedar Park,” DeLisle said. “Welcome to Leander.”
