When families aren’t busy chasing Easter bunnies or are in search of a different kind of activity, there are several events in the Cedar Park and Leander area this weekend and next week.
April 14: Fries for First Responders. McDonald’s restaurants in Leander and Cedar Park are participating with the 100 Club of Central Texas to raise funds for families of first responders during the 10th Annual Good Friday Fundraiser. A portion of proceeds will go toward families of those fallen or critically injured in the line of duty, K-9, Mounted Unit memorials and scholarships for active duty first responders. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Austin-area McDonald’s locations.
April 15: Edible Books contest. Cedar Park Public Library hosts its third annual contest to celebrate National Library Week. Those interested in submitting their own culinary creation must be at the library between 1:15-1:45 p.m. The event is open to all ages. 2 p.m. Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd. 512-401-5600. www.cedarparktexas.gov/library.
April 20: Car safety seat event. Williamson County Emergency Medical Services will conduct a safety seat and booster inspection event for county residents. Children will need to be with a parent or other adult caregiver during the inspection. Items should be cleared from the vehicle in order to allow technicians access to the child safety seats. If a car seat is found to be outdated or not meeting child safety seat standards, it may need to be replaced. The inspection is available by appointment only. Free. 9 a.m.-noon. Baby Earth, 106 E Old Settlers Blvd. in Round Rock. 512-943-1264.
