While Easter is still a week away, there are a number of events with spring theme, as well as activities to get the whole family out into the community this weekend.
April 7: Family Fun Festival. Hosted by the Wiley Parent Teacher Association, the event includes carnival and inflatable games, a barbecue food vendor, silent auction, community vendors, University of Texas football players and other special guests. 4-7:30 p.m. $1 (per ticket), $20 (per wristband). April 8: Leander Crawfish Boil. Members of the public are invited to enjoy food, beer and live music, and benefits go toward the Leander Fire Department. Two pounds of crawfish per person while supplies last. There also will be a car show, vendor booths and a drawing. Chris Manning and Earl Hinton will perform at 2:30 p.m. and Texas Tallboys will play at 7 p.m. Noon to 4 p.m. crawfish boil. April 9: Fun Run Field Day. Sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas, the sixth annual event helps raise awareness and knowledge about Down syndrome and fundraise of the organization. The day’s activities will include a 1-mile course distance run, sponge relays, photo booth, face painting and music. April 9: Spring Egg-Stravaganza. The Leander Parks and Recreation Department hosts the annual candy hunt in Leander. Participants should bring their own baskets. April 9: Spring Egg-Stravaganza. Bring out baskets to hunt for candy, prizes and goodies during Cedar Park’s annual Easter egg hunt. People are welcome to bring their camera and take photos with the bunny until 2:45 p.m. There also will be inflatables, train rides and face painting.
