Leander ISD board of trustees considered four academic calendar options at a meeting Feb. 1, including three calendar options applicable if the school
became a district of innovation, or DOI, and another option that does not use the DOI exemptions.
District staff recommended calendar A, which is proposed to begin Aug. 27 and end June 7, as the non-DOI sample and calendar B, running Aug. 16-May 31, as the DOI sample.
The first proposal includes five days in the first week of school and two bad weather makeup days, while the second offers two days in the first week of school and one bad weather makeup day, according to
district documents. Both include a total of 176 days for students.

“I think the more input we get early, the better,” LISD Trustee Jim MacKay said.
