Leander Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center is transforming its September Summer Nights event to help raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Chamber President Bridget Brandt said the Sept. 16 event will likely include a variety of opportunities to help raise funds and collect goods for people who have been affected by floods and damage caused by the hurricane, including a 50/50 raffle and a collection as well as other opportunities. Chamber staff members are coordinating with officials in Rockport and La Grange to learn what the biggest need is in those communities. "Once we know what that need is, we'll also have a drive for that during Summer Nights," Brandt said. Brandt said the chamber is also looking into other possibilities. The event was already set to have a band, music, "the whole nine yards," she said. It will be held from 6-9 p.m. in Old Town Leander at 100 N. Brushy St. The chamber will post updates about the event on the Old Town Leander website at https://oldtownleander.com.
