2. Reserve a free ticket to a Dallas Stars scrimmage
The H-E-B Center at Cedar Park will host training camp for the Dallas Stars hockey team in mid-September. On Sept. 17, the Dallas Stars will split into two teams for a scrimmage game.

3. Attend a public hearing on Leander ISD’s budget and tax rate

As the LISD board of trustees continues to move closer to finalizing its budget and tax rate for the 2017-18 school year, trustees called for a public hearing to be held during Thursday’s Leander ISD board meeting. Learn more about the budget and tax rate here.

4. Hear the final reading for Leander’s annexations
At a meeting June 1, Leander City Council approved a resolution beginning the process of involuntary annexation of approximately 5,000 acres north and west of Leander. After landowners entered into development agreements with the city, the amount of property under immediate annexation may be around 1,600 acres. The second and final reading of the annexation ordinance is Aug. 17.

5. Be aware of increased police presence in Cedar Park
Cedar Park police officers plan to increase their patrol presence in the weeks leading up to Labor Day, starting Friday. The initiative will run through Sept. 3. Read more here.

6. WORTH THE TRIP: Listen to speakers at Williamson County Overdose Awareness Day
The second annual Williamson County Overdose Awareness Day features speakers, including Sheriff Robert Chody from the county and Mark Kinzly from the Texas Overdose Naloxone Initiative. Guests can bring photos of friends and family lost to addiction for the memorial wall.

7. Ride the Austin Steam Train Association’s princess flyer
The Austin Steam Train Association’s Bertram Flyer holds a princess-themed ride. Children are encouraged to bring stuffed animals and wear costumes. The three-hour round trip includes a visit by Depot Princesses and a stop at the Bertram Depot.

8. Be a part of Leander Old Town Summer Nights
