Ben White, the former vice president of economic development for the Round Rock Chamber, is now serving as the economic development director for the city of Cedar Park.

White confirmed Friday that he accepted a role with the city of Cedar Park, and Tuesday the city announced White was selected as the new economic development director.

“Cedar Park is seen by corporations, site selectors and regional partners as the next job center for the region,” White said in a statement from the city.

The position has been vacant since Phil Brewer, who served as economic development director since 2005, retired May 18, according to Cedar Park’s website.

In addition to his time with the Round Rock Chamber, White also worked as the director of economic development for the city of Rowlett, Texas, and as projects manager and executive director for the Greenville, Texas, board of development, according to the city of Cedar Park’s statement.
