The city of Cedar Park held its first public meeting to gather input on the future Lakeline Park on April 5.

City staff held the meeting to determine a "community vision" for the 189 acres of undeveloped land in south Cedar Park, according to the city's website. According to the city’s 2015 Parks and Open Space Master Plan, Lakeline Park could include trails, open play fields, pavilions and picnic facilities, a splash pad, event areas, undeveloped preserve areas, a fishing area and water activities.

Community members attended the first of three open houses for the park to get information on the future park. They also had the opportunity to provide comments to the city and indicate what types of amenities they would like to be constructed at the park.

"I see this park as the gem of Cedar Park south," said Annie Hardy, who lives nearby the proposed park. "I do believe that there are definitely some concerns about the neighborhoods suffering from things like higher traffic, the crime that comes with higher traffic, light pollution and noise pollution."

The city plans to hold two more public meetings in the future to explore and refine ideas for the park. According to the city’s website, dates and locations have not yet been set for the future meetings.
