Out of an abundance of caution, Eanes ISD has called off all after-school activities Feb. 11 in light of inclement weather conditions, according to a news release from the district.

Campuses will dismiss students at regular times, and transportation services will operate per usual. At this time EISD has not announced plans for a possible snow day; however, administrators are closely monitoring weather conditions, the release states.

The district has sufficient minutes factored into the school year to account for one more inclement weather day. Meaning, in the event of a school cancellation, EISD students would not be required to make up the day.

However, if an additional day off is required, EISD will decide to implement a 100% remote learning day or extend the school year by one day, as required by the Texas Education Agency.

“Our preference would be to go 100% remote rather than extend the school year into summer break,” the release said.

In light of this possibility, the district is recommending students and staff bring their electronic devices home today.

Regardless of weather conditions, all students will be off from school Feb. 15 as a result of the President’s Day holiday.

Parents and community members can anticipate further communication from district officials regarding the evolving weather conditions.
