A mission rooted in compassion
For founder Laura Chotkevys, the inspiration to create a better assisted living experience stemmed from a deeply personal journey.
“When I was helping to place my grandma years ago, it was a horrific experience,” Chotkevys said. “The facilities were dark and gloomy, an environment that you just want to run out of. I said, ‘I can create a better environment than that.’ I wanted to create a space where people can really thrive. There's light and there's life. The staff who are working there are smiling and engaging with people. I really wanted to create that, so that's what I did.”
With a background in real estate, she channeled her expertise into designing a space that feels like home. Since opening five years ago, Platinum Resort has maintained a waitlist, a testament to its unique approach to assisted living.
A distinctive approach to senior care
What sets Platinum Resort apart is its philosophy of care, which extends beyond residents to include staff. The facility fosters a sense of family, referring to staff as platinum angels and residents as grandparents, rather than using clinical terms.
“Words hold such depth. I really wanted to change the way we talk about people within assisted living,” Chotkevys said. “We flipped the script.”
The environment itself is another key differentiator. Designed with large windows and abundant natural light, the space aims to create a sense of comfort.

A day in the life
Structure and routine play a crucial role in daily life at Platinum Resort.
“When someone has dementia, consistency is comfort to them,” Chotkevys said.
Each day follows a set schedule. Mornings start with personal care and a fresh breakfast, followed by engaging activities such as pool noodle volleyball, cornhole or crafts. After a communal lunch, residents enjoy an afternoon nap before participating in another activity, followed by dinner and relaxation.
Beyond scheduled activities, residents benefit from a range of services, including visits from a nurse practitioner, home health specialists and hospice care teams. Additional amenities include an in-house salon, pet therapy sessions with mini horses and rabbits, and a chaplain who provides spiritual support.
“We provide all of the amenities that you get in a big-box [facility], but it's brought to you in a luxurious mansion of a home,” Chotkevys said.
Aside from optional salon services, including hair cuts and color, every amenity is included under one price at the current facility.
Expansion on the horizon
Due to high demand, Platinum Resort is expanding with two new assisted living mansions in Georgetown, with plans for two more on the same property. Each mansion will span 10,000 square feet, featuring 16 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms.
Tours are already underway, and a waitlist has begun for prospective residents.

A new standard for assisted living
With a commitment to redefining senior care, Platinum Resort is setting a new standard for assisted living—one that prioritizes dignity, warmth and community.
