Lakeway City Council will meet in special session April 23 at 5 p.m. at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing, according to a release. The agenda discussion will focus on an ordinance to call a special election to fill a vacancy on the council created when Council Member Jean Hennagin announced her decision Feb. 16 to run for mayor. Sandy Cox and Tiffany McMillan are also vying for the position. The City Council also will discuss the possibility of runoff elections following the May 5 general election, according to the release. This would be the first election where Lakeway City Council candidates could face a runoff, after changes in 2014 to the city's charter created staggered three-year terms for members. Six candidates are running for two open positions on the council. See Community Impact Newspaper's election guide here.
