Unofficial results show newcomers Ivers, Blackman and incumbent Hern win Eanes ISD seats

According to unofficial Travis County voting results released at 9:15 p.m. with all precincts reporting, Eanes ISD board of trustees newcomer Kate Ivers remains in the lead over Afshan Khan and Robert Morrow. Results show Ivers has received 2,919 votes, or 56.04%, over Khan's 2,175 votes, or 41.75%, and Morrow's 115 votes, 2.21%.

Newcomer Jennifer Blackman also remains in the lead with 2,785 votes, or 53.65%, over incumbent Laura Clark who has 2,406 votes, or 46.35%.

"I want to extend my sincere thanks to Laura Clark for her years of service to our community and for a thoughtful, hard-fought campaign," Blackman said in a statement to Community Impact. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to step into this position and build on the work that's been done while endeavoring to preserve Eanes excellence, sustainably. The election may be over, but our shared work continues. I look forward to bringing our community together and moving ahead with focus, respect and purpose. Thank you."

Incumbent Diane Hern narrowly maintains a lead over Swasti Apte with 2,577 votes, or 50.26%. Apte has received 2,550 votes, or 49.74%.

"This was a hard fought election and a very close vote for Place 3," Hern said in a statement to Community Impact. "Eanes has challenges ahead just as most public school districts in Texas do. I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve another three years and champion community engagement as we work together to secure the success of our schools well into the future."

Based on unofficial Travis County election results released at 8:43 p.m.:

• Ivers leads with 2,613 votes (56.19%) against Khan's 1,932 votes (41.55%) and Morrow's 105 votes (2.26%)
• Blackman leads with 2,490 votes (53.69%) against Clark's 2,148 votes (46.31%)
• Hern leads with 2,289 votes (50.13%) against Apte's 2,277 votes (49.87%)

Unofficial early voting results show candidates Kate Ivers, Jennifer Blackman and incumbent Diane Hern are leading in the Eanes ISD board of trustees election.

On the ballot are Afshan Khan, Ivers and Robert Morrow for Place 1; incumbent Kim McMath did not seek reelection. Running for Place 2 is incumbent Laura Clark and Blackman, and running for Place 3 is Hern and Swasti Apte.

Based on Travis County early voting election results:

• Ivers leads with 1,722 votes (54.72%) against Khan's 1,343 votes (42.68%) and Morrow's 82 votes (2.61%)
• Blackman leads with 1,638 votes (52.27%) against Clark's 1,496 votes (47.73%)
• Hern leads with 1,603 votes (51.96%) against Apte's 1,482 votes (48.04%)

Khan is an Eanes parent, Westlake-based adult and child psychiatrist, and Dell Medical School educator who plans to strengthen district-wide mental health frameworks, ensure transparent budgeting, and increase parent and community engagement efforts.

Ivers is an Eanes parent and an attorney, with plans to prioritize budget sustainability while supporting teacher retention with competitive pay and improving student outcomes.

Morrow did not respond to Community Impact's questionnaire.

Clark was first elected to the board in 2020, has 20 years of Eanes community experience, and plans to protect enrichment opportunities, pursue alternative revenue streams and fight for fair state funding.

Blackman is an Eanes parent, nonprofit consultant, serves on various EISD committees, and plans to prioritize the budget, teacher pay, student learning and safety.

Hern was first elected to the board in 2023, has a background in engineering, business and public policy, and plans to prioritize a balanced budget, supporting students and educators, and bettering community engagement.

Apte is is an Eanes parent and healthcare planner, and plans to prioritize fiscal responsibility, restoring academic programs, and seeking administrative accountability.
