Tom Kilgore defeats Alain Babin to become next Lakeway mayor

Tom Kilgore, a retired Army officer who put building safer roads for Lakeway as a top priority, defeated Alain Babin in the May1 race for Lakeway mayor. Kilgore won 2,402 votes, or 63%, to Babin's 1,410 votes, or 37%.

Mayoral candidates Alain Babin and Tom Kilgore are vying to replace outgoing Lakeway Mayor Sandy Cox, who declined to run for re-election.

With early-voting totals being released at 7 p.m., Kigore has 1,730 votes, or 61.1%, and Babin has 1,100 votes, or 38.9%.
