The district provided an update on its bus services for the 2024-25 school year in a letter from Lianka Soliz, LTISD senior director of food and nutrition services and transportation.
Eligible families may continue to register their students for transportation.
Current situation
The district will post assigned bus routes by Aug. 7 through SMART tag and Infofinder for students who signed up for services by July 31, according to district information. Riders who register after July 31 can expect to receive their route assignments in three to five business days.
Students must register for transportation services if they did not ride the bus from January to May, while students who received bus services in the spring will not need to reregister. New students who signed up for transportation services while enrolling are not required to reregister.
The district will not provide bus services to neighborhoods that didn't receive services last year, including most students living within 2 miles of their school. Transportation will be offered depending on the availability of drivers and capacity of routes, according to LTISD.
Families who moved should update their contact information through Skyward Family Access.
In case you missed it
LTISD has struggled to provide bus services for all of its students in recent years amid an increase in bus driver vacancies.
The district reduced its bus routes to every other week for students living beyond 2 miles of their school in the 2022-23 school year.
Last school year, the district resumed daily bus services, but most students within 2 miles of their school were still ineligible to ride the bus.
In September, the district began dropping students from transportation services if they went 10 consecutive days without riding the bus to open seats for waitlisted students.
