Lake Travis ISD announces elementary, secondary school teachers of the year

Lake Travis ISD officials announced its 2019-20 elementary and secondary school teachers of the year during the May 20 board meeting.

Teachers were nominated by their peers for displaying exceptional dedication in their job. Selected teachers are considered knowledgeable and skilled educators who inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn.

In April, one educator from each of LTISD’s ten campuses was selected and announced as a campus teacher of the year. Out of the winners, two teachers were recognized as the elementary and secondary school teachers of the year.

Idalia Gannon, a fifth-grade dual-language teacher at Lake Travis Elementary School is LTISD’s 2019-20 Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Shannon Agurrie, a Latin teacher at Lake Travis High School is LTISD's 2019-20 Secondary Teacher of the Year.



The two recipients will represent the district in the regional and state Texas Teacher of the Year program.
