Following an anticipated August 2020 opening date, Lake Travis ISD students will officially be cheering for the Rough Hollow Rattlers.

Formally referred to as LTISD’s Elementary School No. 7, the $31.51 million facility located on Bee Creek Road in the Rough Hollow subdivision will officially be named Rough Hollow Elementary, and the mascot is designated as the Rattlers.

The decision was made official by a unanimous decision from the board of trustees Nov. 20.

The district turned to the community when deciding on an official name, utilizing the online communication platform Thoughtexchange, which allowed residents to vote for name and mascot suggestions. Rough Hollow Elementary was the highest-rated option with 285 thoughts and a rating of 3.1.

The new 102,000-square-foot campus will feature outdoor dining areas, an energy-efficient building, a full-sized indoor basketball court and outdoor learning areas, with the capacity to hold 850 students.
