From pizza and hamburger joints to sushi restaurants, here’s a look at eight restaurants and eateries that closed in the Lake Travis-Westlake area in 2022:

JANUARY

Cho Sushi Fusion closed its Lakeway location at 2422 S. RM 620, Ste. A100, Lakeway, in January. The Steiner Ranch location at 4300 N. Quinlan Park Road, Ste. 105, Austin, is still open.

FEBRUARY

Castro’s Bar & BBQ closed at 900 S. RM 620, Ste. 104, Lakeway, in February. The restaurant was replaced by Taco Flats in October.


AUGUST

Komal Latin Kitchen & Bar closed its Steiner Ranch location in August. The restaurant was at 5000 N. Quinlan Park Road, Ste. C, Austin.

Lake Travis Pizza at Riverplace near the Four Points area at 10815 RM 2222, Austin, closed its doors to the public in August. The Hudson Bend location is still open at 3305 N. RM 620, Austin. The independently-owned pizza joint serves homemade and hand-tossed brick-oven style pizza, as well as calzones, New York-style pizza and dessert pies.

Longtime Lakeway eatery Hamburger Hut at 113 N. RM 620, Lakeway, closed Aug. 13, according to the business. The family-owned establishment opened in 1979 and had since served its locally sourced “bucket list” burgers and hand-cut fries to the community.


SEPEMBER

Vincent’s on the Lake, a Lake Travis waterfront dining location at 5973 Hiline Road, Austin, closed Sept. 30.

NOVEMBER

ThunderCloud Subs, a sandwich, soup, salad and smoothie shop with locations throughout Austin, closed its Lakeway location at 2300 Lohmans Spur, Ste. 108, Lakeway, at the beginning of November. The location’s biggest challenge was the lack of employees in the Lakeway area, Director of Development David Cohen said.


DECEMBER

Cali-Mex restaurant R19 Taqueria closed its doors at 2422 S. RM 620, Ste. A-120, Lakeway, at the end of December. Owner Christopher Haydostian opened the eatery in October 2021 after closing his full-service restaurant Reunion 19 in downtown Austin.
