The former 220,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter, located at 8201 N. RR 620, Austin, was sold to
PacVentures, Inc., a California-based commercial real estate company on Aug. 22, PacVentures Founding Principal Andrew Kaplan said.
The store closed Jan. 28.
“We are looking at converting [the building] into offices and nontraditional uses such as recreational facilities,” he said.
The real estate company has also had interest from private schools and universities about the 40-acre site that is near to the intersection of RR 620 at RR 2222, Kaplan said.
“We think it has a unique location and well-suited for conversion from retail to a non-retail use,” he said. “It’s in a great campus setting.”
Kaplan said the site will not be a mixed-use project.
