Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Lake Travis-Westlake businesses have stepped up to aid community members in need. From drive-thru food banks to ventilator donations, here is a noncomprehensive list of local businesses working to give back to the neighborhood.

Kwik Chek, a chain of convenience and grocery stores, is expressing gratitude for the health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Kwik Chek donated 50 care packages to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Lakeway the week of April 20. The company said in a press release supporting the local community is crucial while weathering the COVID-19 crisis.

Mastermind Realtors of Lake Travis organized food drive events benefiting three local nonprofit organizations. Nonperishables and cash donations will aid LT Senior Services, Lake Travis Crisis Ministries and Helping Hand Crisis Ministry of Spicewood in the distribution of resources to residents in need. Along with unopened food items, the most requested items include toilet paper, paper towels, masks, cotton fabric, elastic and cleaning supplies, such as Clorox. The items can be donated at several locations throughout the Lake Travis area from 9-11 a.m.

Domino’s Pizza locations in Austin have pledged to donate 200 pizzas each to grocery store employees, health care workers and families in need. According to a press release, 12,800 pizzas from more than 60 Domino's locations will be donated throughout the Austin area. The chain has locations in Lakeway, West Lake Hills and an upcoming location in Bee Cave.

Staff from Don Mario Mexican Restaurant in Lakeway sent an assortment of tacos to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lakeway on April 10, while practicing social distancing measures. The restaurant remains open for curbside pickup and delivery.


Lakeway Resort and Spa is offering reduced rates for health care providers and first responders in an effort to show appreciation for their service. The offer stands to aid medical workers who need or want to socially distance themselves from loved ones or those within their homes. The offer was originally set to run until April 30 but may be extended in light of the ongoing pandemic, according to the public relations firm Bread & Butter, which represents the resort.

Austin-based Pathway Vet Alliance is encouraging its veterinary hospitals to donate ventilators in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. The company operates more than 275 general practice, specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals nationwide, including Westlake Animal Hospital at 3930 Bee Caves Road, Austin.

“We understand that access to ventilators remains one of the nation’s greatest challenges, and hope that by taking this action, other veterinary hospitals follow suit to help their local communities,” Chief Medical Officer Bob Murtaugh said in a press release.

Employees at Whataburger’s Lakeway location have been regularly donating meals to various essential workers throughout the community, including staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lakeway, Randalls, H-E-B and Brookdale Lohmans Crossing.
