The city of Rollingwood will not hold a City Council election Nov. 7 because only three candidates filed for the city’s three scheduled vacancies during the candidate-filing period July 24-Aug. 21.

City Council approved the action at a special called meeting Sept. 6, passing an ordinance to certify the unopposed status of the three council seats.

Aldermen Michael Dyson and Bobby Dillard will remain on the council after filing for re-election for their current seats. Alderman Max Westbrook, who has been serving as an interim since May 17 of this year, did not file for re-election, City Secretary Robyn Ryan said.

Wendi Hundley, a current member of the Rollingwood Park Commission who filed to run, will serve in Westbrook’s place beginning Nov. 15, Ryan said.

Members of the Rollingwood City Council serve two-year terms.

A proposition to reauthorize local sales tax for maintenance and repair of city streets will still appear on the city’s ballot Nov. 7, Ryan said.
