Updated 9:34 p.m. May 6 After winning the Place 3 election in West Lake Hills, Beth South told Community Impact Newspaper she was thrilled to have had the support of her fellow residents. “The turnout is usually very small in West Lake Hills and I can’t thank the people who came out to support me enough,” she said. “I know the time it takes to get out there and vote, and appreciate them for taking an interest in our city. I've met so many great people through the process and I'm really looking forward to working with this council.” South said she became interested in running for office after a four-month stint as an interim council member in 2016. "I’ve lived in West Lake Hills for most of my life and served as an interim city council person when Linda Anthony moved to the mayor’s position,” she said. “That’s when I became interested in running for office. Currently, I’m a zoning and planning commissioner, so I have a lot of recent experience working with the city's government and have really enjoyed it.” Update 8:55 p.m. May 6 With all votes counted in the West Lake Hills City Council election, Beth South has defeated Ambrose Krumpe in Place 3 with 165 votes, or 85.94 percent, compared to Krumpe's 27 votes, or 14.06 percent.
