The final day of operation for the Texas Disposal Systems Bee Cave Transfer Station and Eco Depot is Feb. 14, according to a news release.

The details

Located at 4001 RM 620, Bee Cave, TDS provides waste management services to the city through a collaboration with Travis County, while Eco Depot serves as an outlet for products from Garden-Ville. Travis County opened Eco Depot in 1975 and operated the transfer station until contracting with TDS in 1997, according to the news release.

“For nearly five decades, Eco Depot has stood as a testament to TDS’ dedication to public service and environmental stewardship, and Travis County is proud to have partnered with them throughout this remarkable run,” said Brigid Shea, Travis County Precinct 2 Commissioner, in the news release.

Despite the closure, Travis County is still committed to providing services to Bee Cave through its TDS partnership, according to the news release.

The next closest stations are located in Creedmoor and Georgetown, about 40 minutes southeast and 53 minutes northeast of the current location, respectively.

What’s next?

A promotion will be held at Eco Depot through the closing of the facility. Residents who rely on Eco Depot are encouraged to use the Travis County Recycling and Waste Drop Off Locator Tool to find alternative options for services.

The future of the site located just west of the Hill Country Galleria was not decided as of press time.

“While the land’s future use has not yet been determined, Travis County is eager to collaborate with the City of Bee Cave to identify the best path forward for our community,” the news release states.
