The first annual Bee Cave Buzzfest—an interactive art and light festival that took place in December—was named a top 100 finalist for an international design award.

The public art installation was one of six Texas nominees for a 2021 CODA award, provided annually to those who successfully integrate art into interior, architectural or public spaces, according to a June 21 news release from the organization. The awards are provided by CODAworx, which is an online platform that connects artists with municipalities and developers that commission artwork.

Buzzfest was selected by a group of 18 jurors in the top 100 nominees out of nearly 400 entries. The event was hosted by local nonprofit Bee Cave Arts Foundation and took place over three nights at Hill Country Galleria to feature interactive light installations and choreographed performances. Community Impact Newspaper previously reported the three-day event drew more than 22,000 attendees.

Public voting to select winners will be open until June 30. The two artworks that receive the most votes will win a People’s Choice CODA award and will be announced in the August issue of Interior Design magazine.

“When artists, designers, industry resources and clients work together, places are transformed into spectacular spaces,” CODAworx CEO Toni Sikes said in the release.
