Following discussions with first responders and the city of West Lake Hills, the Westlake Chamber of Commerce canceled its July Fourth Parade and Celebration on June 16.
In previous years, the celebration has included costume contests, live music and food with support from a list of local sponsors.Though the annual event is highly anticipated within the community, the large crowd poses too great a risk to public health amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to chamber Executive Director Cathy Hoover.
The chamber is looking into decorating city streets in honor of the holiday, though no official plans have been made at this time.
