Travis Club, a 1,500-acre development near Spicewood along the southwest shore of Lake Travis, opened its private golf course for members-only play over Labor Day weekend.
The overview
Designed by Beau Welling, who also designed Frisco's Fields Ranch West and Pelican Golf Club in Florida, the par-71 golf course features elevation changes, hilltop panoramic views and several holes against the Lake Travis shoreline.
Travis Club’s golf course also offers a practice facility with natural-grass teeing areas, dedicated putting greens, professional golf instruction and two on-course comfort stations.
"We had a fantastic canvas, but also a great ownership group who gave us the opportunity to create a special experience rooted in thoughtful, strategic design that rewards both smart decision-making and creativity,” Welling said in a statement. “While the course offers plenty of challenge for skilled players, we worked hard to make it remarkably playable and enjoyable for golfers of all levels. The Travis Club was as rewarding and fun a project as we could have hoped for, and we believe that will translate into the experiences members and guests have there."
The details
At the center of the development will be the “Club Campus,” including the Golf House, main clubhouse and a fitness and wellness center.
The Golf House is planned to open in spring 2027 and will feature a shop, a restaurant and bar, an outdoor dining terrace, day lockers, training facilities and Trackman-equipped hitting bays.
Other planned amenities for the development include 10,000 feet of Lake Travis frontage and access to more than 65 miles of open water, more than 30 miles of private hiking and biking trails, a private marina and boat club, pools, playing fields and other social spaces.
What else
Beyond the golf course and amenities, the Travis Club development will feature nearly 700 custom homesites, ranging from just under half an acre to over 3 acres per site, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.
The development has sold over 190 homesites, with construction underway on almost 20 homes and more than 40 in design review.
The first completed residences will debut this fall, per a press release from Travis Club.
