With many children out of school this week for spring break some families may be looking for entertaining things to do.  Here are some things to do in Fort Bend County and Houston. The George Ranch Historical Park Explore 100 years of ranching and farming through March 18. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m. families can experience a day in the life of a Texas settler. Experience frontier life by making jerky at the 1830s Jones Stock Farm, branding wood with hot metal at the 1860s Ryan Prairie Home, and discovering how to make plants grow on an 1890s-sharecropper farm. Through Friday March 17, they are having Spring Break Stampede, during which the carnival will open early. This will allow patrons more time to indulge in funnel cakes and cotton candy, ride carnival rides, such as the 130-foot- La Grande XL, and attend the livestock show and rodeo. The rodeo is located at 3 NRG Pkwy, Houston. 832-667-1000. www.rodeohouston.com Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center The center is hosting an Extreme Spring Break through March 18 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Extreme zones offer a variety of activities for children. They can use foam blocks to build new worlds at the Imagination Playground, get moving with an Xbox connect while slicing virtual fruit with Xtreme Gaming and split into Velcro jacket wearing teams to attempt to cover other teams in sticky balls in the Sticky Ball Arena. Some of these events include a teen advisory council on March 15, where teens can have input on what materials the library buys.
