The boil water notice has been lifted for all Georgetown water customers, the city announced Feb. 22.

The remaining 720 customers in Florence were the last to have their notice lifted after laboratory tests on the water system used for drinking water or human consumption were completed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, it said.

Customers in these areas might experience sedimentation and/or discoloration resulting from the loss of pressure in the water system. To remove sedimentation and/or discoloration, individuals should let the water in household pipes, ice maters and water fountains run until it appears clear prior to drinking or cooking, it said.

The city began lifting its notice Feb. 20 with most of its customers no longer under a boil water notice Feb. 21.

While residents no longer need to boil their water before consumption, the city remains under water restrictions until 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 24. This requires residents to reduce water usage to essential needs only.
