Georgetown ISD students will return to school on Feb. 22 for both in-person and virtual classes, Superintendent Fred Brent said in a Feb. 21 newsletter to parents.

Brent said following a final assessment of the district's facilities, every campus in GISD will have school.

“While some neighboring districts have been forced to close, we have been very fortunate in Georgetown,” Brent said in the release. “Storm damages have been mitigated. We have power and water in all of our buildings, and we know that our community needs us to open our doors.”

At this time, East View High School, Georgetown Alternative Program and Williams Elementary are the only campuses that remain under a boil-water notice, but the district has secured water sufficient to support those campus communities until the notice is lifted, Brent said.

He added that while the district did sustain some damage at some of its support facilities, including concession stands and restrooms at secondary athletic fields, the district plans to bring in portable toilets to those facilities as they may remain inoperable for a period of time until repairs are made.
