District 6 Council Member Rachael Jonrowe announced on her Facebook page Jan. 20 that she filed for re-election on Friday, Jan. 17. Michael Walton is also seeking the District 6 seat.

Applications for a place on the Georgetown May 2 election ballot may be filed starting Jan. 15.


The general election will be to fill the positions of mayor and City Council seats in District 2 and District 6.


Current Mayor Dale Ross said he will announce soon if he plans to seek re-election or not.

Joshua Schroeder and Jonathan Dade have indicated they will seek the position of mayor on their campaign treasurer appointment documents.

District 2 Council Member Valerie Nicholson will not seek re-election this year.

“I’ve been honored to serve our wonderful community, but my three-year commitment is coming to an end and so I’ve chosen to focus on my top priorities: family, health, and career,” Nicholson said in a press release. “I look forward to supporting a candidate for councilmember district 2 who shares my values and who will embrace our vision of a caring community honoring our past and innovating for the future.”


Shawn Hood’s campaign treasurer appointment document indicated he will seek the District 2 seat.

District 6 Council Member Rachael Jonrowe has not responded to Community Impact Newspaper’s request for comment about whether she plans to seek re-election.

Michael Walton’s campaign treasurer appointment document said he will seek the District 6 seat.

The persons elected to these positions will be in office until May 2023. The mayor is elected at-large, and the council members are elected from single-member districts.
